As we emerge from unprecedented times the demand for highly skilled healthcare professionals continues to grow. The Maricopa County Community Colleges offer over 49 healthcare programs across ten colleges throughout the Valley.

The Bureau of Labor (BLS) data shows the healthcare industry is significantly growing with a 9.1% job growth for healthcare practitioners and technical occupations. However, the largest projected employment growth (22.6%) is for healthcare support occupations between 2019 - 2029. In fact, 6 of the 10 fastest growing occupations are related to healthcare.

The healthcare industry plays an integral role in our local community and economic development. Our healthcare heroes have never been even more important while we are facing a global pandemic. As vaccinations are becoming easier to access, Arizona’s economy is recovering and focused on growing.

In Arizona, projected employment growth in the healthcare & biomedical industries over the next decade is 30.1%, compared to 16.7% nationally.

By building healthier communities through innovative urban design and amenities, Greater Phoenix has become a top destination for healthcare innovation. The region is a premier treatment destination and has made $3 billion in strategic investments in its emerging healthcare enterprise and research capabilities through 2021 (Source: Greater Phoenix Economic Council). Research and clinical institutions in Greater Phoenix are making breakthroughs through healthcare innovation partnerships.

Phoenix is expected to add 88,000 healthcare jobs in the next decade — more than healthcare innovation and biomedical hubs such as Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Seattle (Source: Greater Phoenix Economic Council). The region offers a skilled, diverse workforce that is continuously fueled by globally recognized universities and community colleges such as the Maricopa Community Colleges. Our colleges prepare highly qualified students for in-demand disciplines within the healthcare and bioscience industries.
