Sanford Institute of Philanthropy Launches Fundraising Academy Pitch Contest

Sanford Video Pitch Contest
The Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges is launching a video pitch contest for its Fundraising Academy participants, and you can help decide which nonprofit organizations make it to the final in-person pitch.

All pitch contest participants are part of the Institute’s inaugural Fundraising Academy, an 80-hour fundraising training program designed to provide nonprofit professionals with the skills they need to make a larger impact in their communities. Participants include volunteers, development professionals, and executive directors from 12 local nonprofit organizations.

Participating organizations include: Area Agency on Aging Region One, Arizona Center for Youth Resources (ACYR), Arizona Masters of Poetry, Better Business Bureau Arizona, Catholic Charities, Lura Turner Homes, Read Better Be Better, Phoenix Indian Center, School Connect, Shot in the Dark, Southwest Lending Closet and Stardust Building Supplies.

Using the skills learned throughout the Fundraising Academy, each participant created a 1-minute pitch video about their nonprofit. All videos are located on the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges Facebook page. Views, likes, and shares on each video will be counted as votes. The voting window will be open from Friday, June 1 through Tuesday, June 12 at noon.

The top three organizations will move on to the live pitch on Thursday, June 21, where they will be judged by a panel of expert judges including: Cheryl Green, publisher of AZ Big Media, and Nicole Stanton, partner at Quarles & Brady LLP. The winner of the live pitch will receive a full-page ad in AZ Big Media’s AzBusiness Angels magazine. Each of the top three will also receive a 1-hour consultation from presentation expert Ashley Bright to prepare for his or her in-person pitch.

To vote, please visit the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges Facebook page. If you would like to attend the live pitch on June 21 to show your support, please RSVP to sanford@maricopacorporate.com.

The Institute is currently enrolling for the next Fundraising Academy session, which is set to begin on Oct. 22, 2018. For more information, please visit maricopacorporate.com/fundraising-academy
