Prepare for a career in the high-demand field of bookkeeping as you master QuickBooks 2017—the leading financial software tool for small businesses. In addition, you’ll gain the knowledge you need to ensure that your accounting methods meet all legal standards. The textbook Bookkeeping Made Simple is included in the cost of the program. You'll need to have QuickBooks 2017 installed on your computer in order to take this program.

This program will prepare you to handle bookkeeping for a small business and learn how to use QuickBooks 2017 and is divided into three main sections. The first section addresses bookkeeping and accounting concepts, including illustrations of how QuickBooks incorporates these concepts. The second section introduces QuickBooks in more detail and introduces basic concepts and functionality. The third section addresses intermediate QuickBooks concepts and functionality.

ed2go provides the required textbook, Bookkeeping Made Simple, but you need QuickBooks 2017 software installed on your computer prior to taking this program.

Course Requirements

This program is designed to prepare you for an entry-level position as a full-charge bookkeeper. You do not need any prior experience or training in this field. You should have an Internet connection and e-mailing capabilities and be familiar with using the Internet. You'll also need to have QuickBooks 2017 installed on your computer in order to complete the QuickBooks-related portion of the program.

This program can only be taken on a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems, Firefox, Chrome, or IE 7 and later browsers.

ed2go provides the required textbook, Bookkeeping Made Simple. The QuickBooks 2017 (PC) software is not included.

The bookkeeping portion of this course can be taken on an IBM-compatible computer (PC). The QuickBooks content can be taken on an IBM-compatible computer (PC).

Important: This course does not support use of a Mac computer.

Instructor Bio

Marlissa Phillips is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner and has an MBA in Management Accounting from DePaul University. She is currently an accounting instructor at Clark Atlanta University and has been a facilitator with Cengage Learning for nine years.Marlissa is a proprietor of MJ Phillips Company. For more than 13 years, she has worked with small businesses in a variety of industries. Her firm also launched Heart2Heart Services, which focuses on the needs and concerns of nonprofit organizations. Marlissa provides training for clients as well as accounting professionals.

Wade Lindenberger is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive), Certified Bookkeeper and has a Master of Accounting from the University of San Diego. He is currently a lecturer at the University of California, San Diego Rady School of Management and has been a facilitator with Cengage Learning for over 16 years.Wade has over 25 years of financial, accounting and management experience in public accounting and private industry. He is a proprietor of Lindenberger Consulting. Previously, he was Chief Financial Officer for The New Children's Museum and national Finance and Accounting Service Line Leader for Premier Alliance Group, a national professional services firm.  He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand, a predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the "Big Four" CPA firms.
